About Me, The Mountain Dreamer

I like to have a page with my Bio on each of my blogs.  This time I decided to do a shorter re-write than I normally post.  So let me give you the basics.  If you want the long version, you can always go to Ruminations of a Small Town Mountain Boy, and read the About Author page.

I was born and raised in the high mountains of Colorado.  I lived in an area called South Park, yes there really is a South Park.  I spent the large majority of my life there, surrounded by mountains on all sides,  There is a comforting feeling knowing that a protective garrison of natures wonders surrounds you.  We had long, cold, windy winters, and very short Summers.  The temperatures never got above 80 degrees in the summer, and in the winter, it was not unusual to have the temperature drop below –30.  We learned to always be prepared for the cold, for one never knew when it would strike.  I have fond memories of 6 inches of snow on the 4th of July, not to mention a high school graduation that saw two feet of snow.

Life likes to throw a few obstacles in the trail, play tricks with our chosen path.  As such, I've ended up having to move south, to the flatlands of Texas, much to the despair of my mountain sensibilities.  We now live in the Fort Worth area, and I constantly find myself daydreaming of the high mountain ranges of home, that protected and shielded me for so long.  I write a lot about what the mountains mean to me, and the places that I have always considered special.  That is one of the reasons I considered starting this blog.

I have held a number of different jobs in a variety of occupations, kind of a jack of all trades and master of none.  I’ve learned of late that I enjoy writing, and have spent a large portion of my time sharing on my blogs.  I have four blogs that I take pretty seriously.  Ruminations of a Small Town Mountain Boy, where I like to write fiction, and share a lot of memories from my childhood.  Side Notes, started off as a format to share the small things I find on-line.  I started it mainly because Twitter’s 140 character format seems to small at times.  Lately, it has been more of a collection of my daily thoughts.  For a short time I was posting every day on there. Lately I have let that drop a little, mainly because I’m sharing the computer with my wife who has discovered Dog Blogging.  Then we have Chihuatude, where I write about our Chihuahua’s, 9 in total, that share our life and home.

Some day, I hope to write a book.  I would love to write a fiction novel, I’m not sure which genre it would be though.  I’m having a lot of fun with the fantasy fiction story I have been writing, and would like to try some different genre’s like action adventure.  But I guess I’ll just have to cross that bridge when I get there.
